In France the SNITM, the National Syndicate for Medical Technology, estimates that the sector it represents had a global turnover for 2009 of 7.7 Billion Euros, divided between medical equipment (30%) and medical systems for personal use (70%).

In this sector the market is split between:

medical optics (32 %, at 4.7 Billion €-source GIFO),the treatment of wounds, restraints (9 %, at 1.3 Billion €-source APPAMED) dental equipment (6 %, at 0.9 Billion €-source COMIDENT).

The remaining 53% represent the turnover of SNITEM members, i.e.:
